Nourish Vitamin C Serum Ingredients

Deionized Water: is just what it sounds like: Water that has the ions removed. Tap water is usually full of ions from the soil, from the pipes, and other sources. Water is usually deionized by using an ion exchange process.

Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the fluid that bathes joints, in the vitreous humor of the eye and in the skin. It's abundant in the dermis of young skin, but levels of this important compound decline with age. This makes skin look older. Hyaluronic acid gives skin volume by holding onto water and as levels decline with age, skin loses its youthful fullness.

Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans: are widely used in skin care products and cosmetics because of their ability to bind with water efficiently and increase depth hydration, improving the elasticity and firmness of the skin. They are easily accepted into the skin because of their positive charge, and can moisturize the skin, as well as improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily minimizing the depth of wrinkles on skin.

Ethyl Ascorbic acid (vitamin C): Ethyl ascorbic acid penetrates into skin where it is metabolized to ascorbic acid. Due to this process its efficacy is more pronounced than the one of pure ascorbic acid.

Ethyl Ascorbic acid has a twofold action on collagen. Firstly it is repairing the collagen structure and secondly it is clearly increasing the synthesis of collagen. Both effects are resulting in a firming effect for the skin. The other important efficacy is the improvement of the complexion of the skin, giving an even tone. In addition it is a very strong antioxidant, eliminating free radicals to protect the skin from environmental factors.

Japanese Green Tea Extract: This extract is rich in phenolic antioxidants which provide anti-aging properties. The antioxidant present in green tea helps to clear damage caused to the skin and repairs the wrinkles, blemished or any other impurities on the skin. Japanese Green tea Extract also soothes the skin and prevents irritation.

Propanediol: A glycol that functions as a solvent. Propanediol can enhance the penetration of ingredients (such as salicylic acid) into the skin. It also has hydrating properties and can leave a smooth, moist finish on skin.

Glucose Isomerate: Founded in Switzerland and has been used in foods and personal care products for the past 10 years. It is a natural moisturizing factor. It is derived from sugar or corn.

Polysorbate 20: Derived from Sorbital. Found in sweet fruits. Does not contain Dioxane. Polysorbate 20 is used in cosmetics and skin care products as a surfactant, emulsifier, and fragrance ingredient. It is derived from Lauric Acid and is also derived from fruits and berries as well, leading to its fragrant properties. Polysorbate 20 can serve as an agent to mix oil and water, work as a fragrance and stabilizer, act as a lubricator, and have a soothing effect on the skin.

Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (Vitamin C): Very stable vitamin C derivative (L-Ascorbic acid mono-dihydrogen phosphate magnesium salt) that does not degrade in formulas containing water. Light-stable and oxygen-stable. Potent anti-oxidant (protects skin from oxidation), can improve appearance of aged skin (improves skin elasticity by enhancing collagen production), excellent non-irritating skin whitening agent that inhibits skin cells to produce melanin, lightens age spots.

Tocopheryl acetate: is a form of vitamin E, a natural skin-conditioning agent and antioxidant. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be isolated from vegetable oils. It is also found in dairy products, meat, eggs, cereals, nuts, and leafy green and yellow vegetables. Its substantiated benefits include reducing the formation of free radicals from exposure to UV rays, promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin's barrier function, protecting the skin barrier's lipid balance, and reducing transepidermal water loss. Attributed with antioxidant, anti-aging, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and enhanced SPF properties, tocopherol acetate is valued both as a dietary supplement and skincare active.

Alpine Veronica Extract: This small blue flower, also called “Tea from Europe” has medicinal virtues. It is used in skincare products for its softening, moisturizing and regenerating Properties.

Grapeseed Extract: Mild astringent, inheritantly helps to tighten and tone aging skin. Powerful antioxidant effects, as well as, vitamins E, C and A.  It is non-comedogenic and anti-inflammatory due to its high linoleic acid properties. Anti-aging, its light, and easily absorbed texture allows it to be useful in preventing free radical skin damage.  It is a flavonoid assisting in stabilizing collagen and maintaining elasticity.  This may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, stretch marks and saggy skin.
