Knowing that the skin is the largest organ of our body; ingredients in products that are applied topically may penetrate the skin and enter the small blood vessels located just below the surface of the skin which then circulates through the entire body. Skincare products are used by most people on a daily basis which magnifies the danger of exposure to harmful ingredients.
Think of your children

Children have a much smaller surface area than adults and therefore harmful chemicals can be more concentrated and are potentially more dangerous to them. Our children are our most prized possession and we want to protect them from any potential harm.  We wish for them happy and healthy lives.  So when it comes to skin protection and caring for the skin it is important to use the best products available. When choosing healthy products it is important to read your ingredients, use only safe and healthy ingredients to protect your child from irritants, allergens or harmful chemicals. Avoid the following:
  • Fragrances (perfumes)
  • Parabens
  • SLS/SLES
  • Formaldehyde

Fragrances
Many fragrances are made up of chemicals and alcohols which in many cases irritate asthma, allergies and bring on migraine headaches.  Natural scents derived from flowers and plants may not be enough for those with sensitive skin.  For children your best bet is fragrance free.

Parabens

Are used to prevent the growth of microbes in cosmetic products and can be absorbed through the skin, blood and digestive system.  They have been found in biopsies from breast tumors.

SLS/SLES

Found in over 90% of personal care products.  They break down your skins moisture barrier, leading to dry skin.

Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a toxic preservative and not something you want in your skin care nor do you want your products releasing this dangerous compound into your skin.  Check your labels, whether natural or not.

Read your labels!!  Protect your children from these harmful ingredients!!

I wish you and your families a very Happy and Healthy Holiday.  Will be talking to you again in 2015.
Warmest Regards,
