Have you ever wondered what the secret is to a beautiful glowing skin?

Taking good care of your skin involves more than just washing your face daily and moisturizing. These are very important but just the basics. This is where the facial scrub comes into play. The outer layer of your skin that is most exposed to the sun’s harmful rays, it needs special attention. Using a good facial scrub helps to get rid of the dirt and grime which gives you a more radiant complexion. Scrubs work by removing blackheads and dead skin.

As we age, our skin cell turnover cycle slows down. When using a facial scrub you increase the cell turnover and allow a better blood flow. As a benefit, we have a much younger looking skin.

oct18-2016-nourish-blog-why-should-you-use-a-scrubHow often should you use a face scrub?

It is important that you know how often you should use a scrub. If you have oily skin you most likely can use 2 to 3 times per week. If you have dry skin you should probably only use once per week. You can tell if you are using a scrub too often if your skin feels dry and becomes flaky.

For the best results….

You must thoroughly cleanse the skin first to remove surface dirt, grime and make-up. After cleansing apply your facial scrub (I recommend ground polished walnut shells as the ingredient for exfoliation). Make sure to avoid the eye area where the skin is too delicate to use a scrub. Gently rub your scrub in a circular motion. You may want to rub a little harder in places that attract blackheads such as the nose or foreheads areas.

When you apply with this method it will help to remove the dead skin on the surface as well as removing any blackheads.

Wash off with warm water, pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer. People ask me what they should use when cleansing or for removing any products. I always prefer to use a clean old fashioned wash cloth which in itself is a form of exfoliation.

Ladies, it just isn’t fair….

Do you ever wonder why some men look 5 to 10 years younger than their age? Well, the simple answer is shaving. While shaving the razor is removing dead skin cells from the face on a daily basis which helps to stimulate collagen production and make their skin appear younger. Also, watch them when they shave. They are making all kinds of facial gyrations which it a form of facial exercise. Ladies do those every day and it will also help you have tighter muscles on your face.

Winding up

Caring for your skin is really pretty simple:

  1. Cleanse
  2. Scrub

Of course that is just the basics, I do recommend other simple tricks to keep us younger looking and giving us a healthier skin.
